The man who murdered Zara Aleena has appeared in court docket over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a jail workshop teacher.
Jordan McSweeney is serving a minimal time period of 33 years at HMP Belmarsh for the killing and sexual assault of the 35-year-old legislation graduate as she walked house from an evening out in Ilford, east London, in June 2022.
McSweeney, who murdered Ms Aleena 9 days after he was launched from jail, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court by way of video-link, alongside 33-year-old Hayley Jones, who attended in particular person.
McSweeney, 31, is accused of encouraging or aiding the fee of an indictable offence, whereas Ms Jones is charged with misconduct in public workplace.
The case was adjourned to Woolwich Crown Court on 25 September.
Ms Jones is alleged to have acted in a manner “which amounted to an abuse of the general public’s belief” throughout a relationship with McSweeney, between 6 March and seven April 2023, at HMP Belmarsh.
She was granted conditional bail and advised to not contact McSweeney straight or not directly, nor to go to the jail during which he’s being held.
