Watch controlled explosion of World War Two bomb


A World War Two bomb which was found in Newtownards in County Down has been blown up in a managed explosion.

The 500kg (1,100lb) SC-500 bomb was discovered at a constructing web site on the Rivenwood housing growth on Thursday.

Four hundred close by properties have been evacuated on Saturday with residents advised they may very well be out of their properties for 5 days.

Military consultants had labored to cut back any harm from coping with the bomb by developing a sand-filled construction round it.

The bomb was dropped on Newtownards by the Luftwaffe throughout raids on Belfast in 1941.
