KARACHI: A whale shark, uncommon species of fish, has been noticed close to Charna Island in Karachi, the Pakistan Boat Rally and Fishing Association (PBRFA) instructed Geo News on Monday.
Members of the PBRFA shot movies of the whale shark with an underwater digital camera and swam with it for about 20 minutes.
Depth round Charna Island is between 20 and 60 ft, which makes it a wealthy space for marine life.
Whale sharks and whales typically go to this area looking for meals, particularly in the course of the winter or after the monsoon season, when minerals from the mountains are washed into the ocean by the Hub River, enriching the waters, the PBRFA mentioned in a handout.
PBRFA President Ahmed Mamoor Amimi mentioned the sighting was a “reward to all Pakistanis” and congratulated Manan Sheikh, a member of the affiliation, for showcasing the fantastic thing about Pakistan’s waters.
As per the fishing affiliation, round 150,000 whale sharks are left worldwide as it’s an endangered species globally.
Whale shark, which is discovered alongside Pakistan’s coastal line, is known as Andhi Mangar in Sindhi and Baraan in Balochi. It provides start to child fish within the north of Charna Island.
The fish was once hunted till 1970, however now fishermen are striving to guard its species.
