A volunteer police officer has described how he was attacked when he tried to cease a girl being pickpocketed in central London.
Ned Donovan, who’s a grandson of Roald Dahl and volunteers as a particular constable within the capital, posted on social media how he had grabbed a person after seeing a theft on Westminster Bridge at about 14:00 BST on Monday.
However, he stated he was then set upon by “a number of of his accomplices” who “started to punch me, kick me and choke me to get me to launch their buddy”.
The Met Police stated no arrests had been made following the assault and appealed for witnesses to return ahead.
Mr Donovan wrote on X: “Walking throughout Westminster Bridge yesterday, I noticed a person within the act of pickpocketing a feminine vacationer. I grabbed him and stopped him earlier than he might disappear.
“Unfortunately, a number of of his accomplices appeared and commenced to punch me, kick me and choke me to get me to launch their buddy, which I wasn’t going to let occur.
“One up and coming black eye, bloody nostril, marks on the neck, a scratched eye socket and cuts from him biting my wrist later, I’m recovering and really grateful to.”
