Iceland volcano erupts for sixth time in eight months


Timelapse footage reveals red-hot lava and smoke spewing into the air within the area of Reykjanes in Iceland.

It is the sixth time since December {that a} volcano has erupted within the space – south of the nation’s capital Reykjavik.

The Icelandic Meteorological Office stated the eruption started at 21:26 native time (22:16 BST) following a sequence of earthquakes.

The close by fishing village of Grindavik was evacuated. It will not be identified how many individuals have been within the space as most of its almost 4,000 residents left in November.
