Customs enforcement officers on the Torkham border destroyed 1,150 litres of expired beverage concentrates on Friday. The concentrates, used within the manufacturing of soppy drinks, had been deemed unfit for consumption after they expired in Afghanistan.
Deputy Collector of Customs, Haseeb Bajwa, knowledgeable the media that the beverage concentrates had initially been exported to Afghanistan by a beverage firm.
However, upon expiration, the product was re-imported to Pakistan by the proprietor, who voluntarily surrendered it to the customs authorities on the Torkham border.
Bajwa defined that the expired concentrates, that are used within the manufacturing of chilly drinks, had been confiscated in accordance with customs laws. He famous that the market worth of the seized product was estimated to be within the tens of millions of rupees.
After finishing the mandatory authorized formalities, customs officers proceeded to destroy the expired beverage concentrates.
Bajwa emphasised that this motion demonstrates the dedication of customs authorities to upholding import laws and making certain that solely compliant and secure merchandise enter the market.
He added that customs officers would proceed their vigilant efforts to forestall the circulation of expired or non-compliant items to and from Afghanistan.
