The authorities in Lahore have introduced vacation for all faculties throughout town on August 26 (Monday) on account of the urs (loss of life anniversary) of sufi saint Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh.
As per the official notification, all private and non-private faculties within the provincial capital will stay closed on the event.
The devotees mark the even yearly with three days ceremonies. The commemorations will begin tomorrow (Saturday) on the shrine of the revered saint, often called ‘Data Darbar’ this yr.
Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh was a Persian sufi and scholar through the eleventh century. He was born in Ghazni, Afghanistan (990 AD) through the Ghaznavid Empire and settled and died in Lahore spreading the spirit of brotherhood in sufism.
Hundreds of devotees, together with non secular students and Sufis, flock to Data Darbar — which is taken into account as the biggest sufi shrine in South Asia — to take part within the urs yearly.
