Jermaine Jenas says he is ashamed after BBC sacking


Jermaine Jenas has advised the Sun newspaper he’s “ashamed” and has “let all people down” after being sacked by the BBC.

The former Match of the Day and One Show presenter had his contract terminated on Thursday for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a feminine colleague.

Jenas advised the paper the texts had been a “large error of judgement” for which he was “deeply sorry”, including that he’s “not a intercourse pest”.

He stated he “did nothing unlawful” and described the exchanges as “inappropriate messages between two consenting adults”.

Jenas, who’s married with 4 youngsters, advised the paper he’s receiving remedy and accepted he “fell under [the] requirements” of the BBC.

He continued: “I really feel so ashamed. I’ve let all people down – my colleagues, my buddies and, most significantly, I’ve let my household down.”

The former footballer was sacked by the BBC following allegations involving unsolicited digital communications together with texts to a member of a manufacturing crew.

On Thursday, a BBC spokesperson stated: “We can affirm Jermaine Jenas is now not a part of our presenting line-up.”

The problem was dropped at the BBC’s consideration just a few weeks in the past. The company introduced his departure on Thursday, however did not give additional particulars of the allegations.

The BBC has not commented since Jenas spoke to the Sun.
