Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Sher Afzal Marwat was arrested by Islamabad Police on Thursday and later launched, in line with police sources.
Marwat was detained close to Tarnol, the place PTI employees had gathered for a scheduled rally. Reports additionally surfaced of arrests at Express Chowk.
The police moved Marwat to the Golra police station. However, a spokesperson for Islamabad Police confirmed his launch later within the day.
A video exhibiting Marwat and his associates clashing with law enforcement officials earlier than his arrest has been extensively circulated. The footage depicts resistance towards the police, together with pushing and verbal abuse directed at officers.
Meanwhile, PTI has postponed its deliberate rally in Islamabad, initially set for right now, to September 8.
